Skilled Nursing Center

The JRC occupies an attractive, seven-acre wooded site in Swampscott, Massachusetts. Each of four wings is home to residents with common conditions. Each boasts its own:

  • Comfortable, spacious rooms
  • Solariums
  • Sitting rooms
  • Landscaped grounds and patios

Residents are grouped in "neighborhoods" according to their interests and capabilities for optimal quality of care and quality of life. Licensed to provide multiple levels of care, the JRC employs specially trained caregivers to respond to the challenges posed by geriatric clients. A superb nursing staff consists of RNs, LPNs, and certified nursing assistants who provide care 24 hours a day.

Additional care is provided by:

  • Physicians
  • Psychiatrists
  • Optometrists
  • Mental Health Specialists
  • Dentists
  • Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapists
  • Audiologists
  • Dieticians
  • Social Workers

The JRC has a staff of registered professionals devoted to promoting optimal function and independence for each resident, and for those admitted to the short-term rehabilitation program. Experienced rehabilitative therapists are available to evaluate, assess and treat a wide range of medical problems and neurological impairments.

Physical, Speech, and Occupational therapies are an integral part of each resident's care plan. Residents are assessed upon admission and regularly thereafter, and the staff is alert and responsive to any changes in a resident's capabilities.

Restorative therapy focuses on those residents who may not need skilled rehabilitative treatment, but who would benefit from continued efforts to maintain and/or improve function. Emphasizing skills such as ambulation, increasing range of arm and leg motion, and the ability to eat unassisted, restorative therapy solidifies the goals achieved in treatment and helps prevent functional decline.

The JRC also offers short-term rehabilitation and hospice for end of life care. Continuity of care is ensured through the JRC's affiliation with excellent hospitals and other health care centers on the North Shore. This broad range of services is offered on site for the convenience of residents.

To meet the needs of our residents, the JRC provides:

  • A medical clinic for in-house dental, optometry and podiatry
  • A special care unit for residents with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders
  • Activity areas
  • Hair salon offering full services to men and women
  • A beautiful, inviting chapel
  • Gift Shop
