Dining
Mealtime plays a central role in life at the JRC. Residents socialize while enjoying three kosher meals daily in cheerful, pleasant dining rooms. Each resident receives a liberalized geriatric diet composed of a wide variety of foods to satisfy many tastes and health concerns.
The JRC's professional food service staff prepares meals for residents, Adult Day Center participants and those in the community receiving "Meals on Wheels."
The Food Service Department is frequently called upon to provide food and beverages for special functions, from coffees to hot buffets. Families are invited to a Parents' Day reception, two Passover seders, Chanukah and Christmas celebrations. Special attention is given to an employee appreciation event and to an annual event honoring volunteers. All Jewish holidays, as well as national and non-sectarian holidays, are celebrated with traditional foods.
The JRC's kosher kitchen prepares and serves appetizing meals under the direction of the food service management with input from the clinical consulting dietitian. Residents may choose to have the meals of the day or may request meals from the selective menu program. |
